Out in the Wealdon countryside a Lord North was enjoying a relaxing ride when he spotted a Heath giving spring. Lord North at the time had Tuberculosis and of course stopped at the spring immediately. After then drinking the rusty toned water he proclaimed that he was healed and immediately told all of his comrades in London of the miracle spring. What Lord North; or anyone at the time, was not aware of is that the spring was actually a Chalybeate spring which a phrase that means the water had Iron in it.

Quickly following Lord Norths declaration his Aristocratic friends were visiting the spring in hopes of being healed or maybe just in the hopes of becoming immune to sickness in the future. A well was built shortly after in 1608 with some sparse pavement around it. A little less than 30 years in 1626 a walk was created which is the famed Pantilies and shops selling luxury goods were set out along the 175 yard long walk. In the Heart of the New York Catskill Mountains, there is a place called Nicks Waterfall House. I have been there many times and it has become one of my favorite places of all time to ride to.

If you are a Biker you hop on your Motorcycle get the motor running and you head out to a place like Nicks Waterfall House.

The mountains, seas filled with blue whales, emperor penguins and leopard seals of Antarctica are all protected to preserve wildlife with an international agreement. This pristine ecosystem has been protected from mining and oil drilling since 1998 and will stay protected for at least 50 years. It has been agreed that this continent be used for conservation and science, not for development. Very few things that would be a danger to the wildlife here are allowed. This means that everything from pesticides to dogs are banned.

The agreement that sets all these rules it the Environmental Protection Protocol to the Antarctic Treaty. This agreement has been set by the nations of the world to keep Antarctica free of commercialism and industrial development. The treaty was approved in 1991 by 26 leading nations including the United States, Russia, China, India, Japan, Argentina, Brazil and most major European countries who had interests in the area.

The treaty stopped the arguing that was going on for more than 15 years about regulating the area. The rules said that the 35 scientific outposts had to clean their dumps and pick up their garbage and oil and mining was banned. Postal code and route mapping in Canada is a little different from that of the States. In fact, they are undergoing a change in the way they handle their street addresses. One example of this, is in the Burlington area. Most of this area is a part of Rural Route #2 Milton, and Rural Route #6 Milton, and then still Rural Route #3 Campbellville for their mail delivery.

But, while this is true, these areas all still have an address that is a Burlington street address. This fact has caused many to suffer having their mail incorrectly reflect them living in the wrong location. It has made delivery very difficult and confusing. It has also been the cause of loss of access to emergency services. So they decided to change the postal identifier to Burlington so the rural areas will get the same type of mail delivery as everyone else in Burlington.

They began the process of fixing this problem in 2005. Local counselors and Parliament members met with people from the Canada Post and work on a solution to this confusing problem. They had to create brand new postal codes for the rural areas within the Burlington system. Their proposal for their solution did not get approved until 2009.  Read more...
