Why You Should Pick Tanzania as Your Next Travel Destination
Tanzania in one word is: blessed. Amazing parks in their numbers, pristine beaches, enchanting islands, captivating cultural activities and an incredibly peaceful people are just but some of the supporting evidence. High mountains, deep forests, bird sanctuaries, archaeological and historical sites can only persuade you more to pack up and take vacation in this East African paradise.
Serengeti National Park is to Tanzania what Maasai Mara is to Kenya and the Kruger National Park to South Africa. It covers a good 14,763 sq km (5678 sq miles) reaching up to the Kenyan border. Serengeti is claimed by many to be the best national park in Africa and I guess it’s as a result of the 35 species of plain-dwelling animals, including wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, cheetahs and lions, which feature in the spectacular Serengeti migration between November and May.
Indeed the migration of the wildebeests was included among the Seven Wonders of the World and rightly so. The phenomenal and instantaneous exodus of the wildebeests in their thousands finds root in the quest for grazing land and a chance to mate. With Vicious Predators either laying in wait or in hot pursuit, the weak, the old and the too young stand very little chance of survival.
The Best Forms of Transportation in South Africa
South Africa offers many ways for its tourists to travel including the most popular, hiring a driver. This option is great because it allows you the versatility to travel where and when you wish.
Long distance trains are still reasonably safe and first class is relatively comfortable. The 2nd and 3rd class carriages are however packed and very uncomfortable. Intercity short distance trains have become a dangerous option. Train conductors dont seem to have control over the vagrants and thieves that make these trains their playground.
Privately run trains such as the Outenikwa Choo-tjoe and the Magalies Express are known for being a safe and wonderful experience. The only thing is they are mainly focused on day trips, not long distance, so they do not run in certain areas and only at certain times.
South Africa also offers bus services which include Inter City and Greyhound. It is very important to stay with well known companies as there have been many fly by night companies offering cheap prices only to provide mediocore buses which caused several tragic accidents throughout the country. The prices are reasonable and most tourists give them thumbs up. Another bus line called the Baz is focused mainly on tourists and has stops at many of the hotels across the country.
