South Africa offers many ways for its tourists to travel including the most popular, hiring a driver. This option is great because it allows you the versatility to travel where and when you wish.

Long distance trains are still reasonably safe and first class is relatively comfortable. The 2nd and 3rd class carriages are however packed and very uncomfortable. Intercity short distance trains have become a dangerous option. Train conductors dont seem to have control over the vagrants and thieves that make these trains their playground.

Privately run trains such as the Outenikwa Choo-tjoe and the Magalies Express are known for being a safe and wonderful experience. The only thing is they are mainly focused on day trips, not long distance, so they do not run in certain areas and only at certain times.

South Africa also offers bus services which include Inter City and Greyhound. It is very important to stay with well known companies as there have been many fly by night companies offering cheap prices only to provide mediocore buses which caused several tragic accidents throughout the country. For non European union members you should bring a valid passport to enter Germany. U.S. citizens who wish to visit Germany will be required to show a valid passport as well and in addition a visa will need to be obtained if the stay will last more than 90 days.

Germany of course has a main language of German but you can expect to find many people speaking English along the way. You should consider learning German so that you can ask directions or order off the menu, this will be very necessary in towns or cities that are not used to tourist.

The trains in Germany and all over Europe will not give you much space for luggage, a good rule of thumb is if it fits in the over head compartment of the airplane then the trains will have enough room for your bags. Snakes. Just the mention of the word can send chills up the spine or send one fleeing in the opposite direction. To some they are just scary, slithery, sinister serpents. However, they are also sneaky. Yes, sneaky. The serpent has been known for its sneakiness since the beginning. Remember Eve? It was because of the sneaky sales pitch of the serpent that Eve “bought”, Adam “bit” , and they were both “booted out” of the Garden of Eden. Oh yes, snakes can be extremely sneaky, and can show their craftiness in a variety of ways.

The American Copperhead is a great example of a cunning culprit. This snake has a rust and copper colored body with dark crisscrossing bands. It has a bright copper colored head, hence the name, Copperhead. This snake is easily recognizable, that is if you see it. Because of the snake’s markings, they are easily hidden. Let this snake curl up on a pile of fallen leaves and you may never even know it was there. Pretty slick huh? But that’s not all. These snakes learn how to be masters of guile at a very early age, as a matter of fact from the moment they are born. The baby Copperhead is born with a yellow tipped tail which it uses to lure unsuspecting prey. The juvenile snake hides beneath the leaves and sticks its wiggling tail up. The tail, resembling a grubworm, attracts moles, mice, and other such rodents. When the small mixed-up mammals take the bait, the clever Copperhead enjoys his dinner.  Read more...
